Kurdish Activist, Mi’ad Bahram Sohrab, was Arrested and is in danger of extradition to Iran

Mi’ad Bahram Sohrab, a Kurdish political activist and a former member of the Kurdistan Human Rights Association, was arrested on May 8th, 2021 in Sulaimaniyah, Iraq, and has been in a high-security prison for a month with no connections to the outside.

According to reliable sources, he was arrested in his hotel room, blinded-folded, and directly transported to prison. Due to him being in a high-security prison, he has no access to lawyers as of yet.

With this arrest, there is a threat of extradition to Iran which puts Mi’ad’s life in danger.

Prior to his arrest, Mi’ad received multiple death threats and he was in planning to leave Sulaimanieh. UNHCR recognized Mi’ad Bahram Sohrab as a refugee and Kurdistan Human Rights Association has been working to secure his release.

Mi’ad is a friend of the Federation of Anarchism Era. We demand any extradition process and immediate release of Mi’ad from prison.

We request the international anarchists to help us with spreading the news and help us to free Mi’ad.

Solidarity with Mi’ad.
Solidarity with all political prisoners
