On the occasion of November 1st, World Day of Kobanê Resistance
The Rojava Revolution emerged on July 19, 2012, in a context where few could foresee its profound impact, both on Syria’s internal political dynamics and on the global stage. The remarkable human and social achievements of this revolution quickly captured global attention, inspiring freedom fighters worldwide to join its cause. Authoritarian states, especially the fascist regime of Turkey, saw this social revolution as a serious threat to their existence. Consequently, they created and supported the terrorist group ISIS to halt the progress of the revolution and prevent its spread to other parts of Kurdistan through the genocide of the inhabitants of Rojava and the Yazidis.
On September 15, 2014, the terrorist group ISIS, with full support from the fascist Turkish government, attacked the city of Kobanê. However, on November 1, 2014, it ultimately faced defeat in the face of the historic resistance of Kobani’s fighters, and the enemies’ conspiracy failed. By then, Kobanê had become known worldwide, and millions of people around the globe recognized its name as a symbol of freedom and resistance. To honor the memory of the thousands of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for freedom, November 1st was designated as World Day of Kobanê Resistance.
Now, a decade later, the threats, military occupations, and airstrikes by the fascist Turkish regime against the democratic confederalism experiment in northern Syria continue. Understanding that the magnificent resistance of Kobani’s brave men and women symbolizes the defense of freedom and human values, freedom-minded people across the world must redouble their support to condemn and halt the attacks against Rojava in Kurdistan.
As anarchists from the geographical regions of Afghanistan and Iran, we consistently support the freedom-minded struggles of the people of Rojava in Kurdistan and elsewhere in the world.
Long live the struggle and resistance of the people against all states!
