WE STAND SIDE BY SIDE WITH THE PEOPLE OF KOBANI TO EXPRESS SOLIDARITY AND DEFEND FREEDOM, EQUALITY, AND HUMAN DIGNITY!

The transient and misleading metamorphosis of the leaders of “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham” in Syria should not obscure their extremely Islamist nature in their “new disguise” from the sharp and vigilant eyes of both national and global opinion.
Kobane is one of the cities in Kurdistan, located in the “Ain al-Arab” area of northern Syria, just south of the Turkish border. As a result of the Syrian civil war, on July 19, 2012, the city came under the control of the military militias People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ). From September 2014 to January 2015, the city was besieged and attacked by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), resulting in approximately 70 percent of the city’s infrastructure being destroyed.
Now, once again, Islamist terrorist groups are attempting to attack Kobani, a city that has become a global symbol of courage and resistance against oppressors like ISIL. The ruling Islamist state in Turkey, under the fascist leadership of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has openly declared its intention to destroy the people’s democratic confederal council system in northern and eastern Syria. This is happening with full logistical, political, economic, and military support for the “Syrian National Army” (SNA) and “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham” (HTS), led by Ahmad al-Shar’a, who was formerly the leader of al-Qaeda’s Syrian branch between 2012 and 2017. On December 8, 2024, these groups contributed to the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s fascist regime in Syria.
In this critical situation, the brave people of Kobani need solidarity and support from all freedom-minded, advocates for equality, and justice around the world. They are appealing for help from people in all parts of the world.
We fight against the expansionist and colonialist role of the Turkish government, which seeks to reclaim the revolutionary achievements that the people of Rojava in northern and eastern Syria have struggled to achieve over the past decade.
The global capitalist system, either directly or through small and large proxy actors in the Middle East, threatens the revolutionary existence of Rojava. Right now, the fascist “Syrian National Army,” with full support from the ruling Turkish state, is preparing for a new military offensive against Kobani.
